Maria is a strategic communications consultant with strong experience in media relations, policy communications, and crisis issues management. She specialises in building and delivering integrated campaigns across digital, media and political channels that help clients achieve their objectives.

Before joining Highgate, Maria worked for strategic communications and public affairs agency Hanover, where she supported Amazon UK on their policy communications efforts to effectively engage with Government; handled and mitigated a potential crisis that threatened a client’s license to operate in the UK; and led the press office teams, securing influential coverage in relevant titles, for a series of clients across international affairs, technology, and financial services. She also worked for Weber Shandwick’s Corporate Affairs team. 

Maria graduated from King’s College London in War Studies and History and has a master's from the London School of Economics in Media and Communications, specialising in Political and Strategic Communications. Born in Portugal, Maria grew up in Latin America (Brazil, Colombia, Mexico) and Spain. She is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
